Virtual Symposium October 2020 Hosted By Greater Portland Landmarks
Sea level rise poses unprecedented challenges to Maine’s built environment and cultural heritage. Join Landmarks for a virtual symposium on the past, present, and future of our coastal communities, with three free panel discussions on October 1, 8, and 15 at 8:30 AM.
The first panel examines how the past has shaped our present and impacted our vulnerability to rising sea levels with Arthur Spiess and Christi Chapman-Mitchell (Maine State Historic Preservation Organization) and Libby Bischof (University of Southern Maine/Osher Map Library).
Investigative journalist Jeff Goodell is our keynote speaker on October 22 at 4:30 PM, and will be joined by Keith Carson of News Center Maine.
Landmarks will also release a Property Owner's Guide of mitigation strategies for communities affected by rising seas and increased flooding.
