A NEW CAREER DIRECTORY, Maine Clean Energy Jobs Network, was launched earlier this year by the Maine Governor’s Energy Office (GEO). Jobseekers can find listings for open positions, training opportunities and employers in this growing sector, which spans bioenergy, green buildings, hydropower, wind, solar and more.
The job network’s launch followed a GEO report that the clean energy sector grew more than three times as fast as Maine’s general economy between 2016 and 2022. The sector employs more than 15,000 people and contributed $2.31 billion to Maine’s economy in 2022.
“We are seeing a dramatic increase both in the number of clean energy jobs and the number of people trained for these roles,” said Heather Johnson, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development. “This tool is designed to help companies and skilled workers find each other.”
Anyone can visit mainecleanenergyjobs.com to browse job listings or post a job as an employer. To further support jobseekers, the website also features a list of public resources, including housing, legal help and finances, and built-in translation for nine languages.
