2021 Maine Wood + Sustainability Tour

Wednesday Oct. 27 – all day

Start in Waterville 7:30 a.m., return by 5 p.m.

This Covid-cautious year, instead of loading on a charter bus, we are driving ourselves caravan-style. Carpool-up if you feel comfortable. We will make stops at:

GoLab – The first US producer of wood-fiber insulation

The Wood Mill of Maine – Premiere producer of wide-plank pine flooring

Maine Woods Pellet Company – Producer of renewable-energy fuel for modern wood heat systems

A sustainably managed woodlot

Learn from: Foresters, loggers, mill managers, and wood producers

See: A variety of modern wood manufacturing

Learn about: Sustainable forestry, supply networks, and sourcing from niche saw mills

Network with: Colleagues and Local Wood WORKS staff and advisors Lloyd Irland,

Ken Laustsen, Lee Burnett and Theresa Kerchner

Earn: Professional credits

Covid-precaution reminder: Please come only if you are Covid-vaccinated. We will be caravanning in private cars, rather than traveling by charter bus. Total drive time between stops is about two hours.
