Time to make our homes cozier and more energy efficient for the cold winter months ahead! If you are looking for a DIY alternative to WindowDressers window inserts (either to reduce plastic use or because you have cats that are likely to find irresistible joy sinking their teeth and claws into plastic window coverings), this event is for you!
CEBE’s own Roberta Hill will lead a short demonstration, covering measuring, constructing, and installing your shades. We will distribute step-by-step plans and information for where to order materials (including thermal lining fabric, rings, and cord). We may have some materials available to purchase, and can provide basic hand- and machine-sewing instruction. If you get stuck at any point, just come back to a Repair Cafe for help!
A typical house loses 25-30% of its heating and cooling through windows. Insulated lining will help keep in up to 80% of heat normally lost, and block up to 79% of the unwanted solar heat gain through windows in the summer.
Please register ahead - space is limited. Snacks provided - feel free to bring your own food!
